Our Education Subcommittee is among our most active subcommittees, and focuses on ways to encourage multicultural and anti-bias education in our schools, library, and community.  Our goal is to work collaboratively with teachers, principals, PTAs, and families to ensure all our community is welcoming and supportive of all children and families, and that all children are prepared to thrive in increasingly diverse local and global communities.

In addition to hosting children's book discussions and developing curriculum for use in homes, libraries, and classrooms, we also work to support school- and district-level initiatives related to diversity, multicultural education, and social justice.  In 2017, this included a partnership with Chaparral Elementary's schools' Kindness Week committee (which adopted our curriculum for "A Bad Case of Stripes" as part of their Kindness Week programming), and the co-authoring of a community letter regarding multicultural education in Ladera Ranch schools.  To read or add your name to the letter, click here.
